Hi everybody!
This blog is about the adventures of Ben Chapman and Matt Edwards as we head out to Australia to play and Coach American Football for 6 months from March to September. We are a couple of best friends who love football, traveling and having a good time. We played Football together at the University of Connecticut and were part of the 2010 Big East Championship team. We also went to three bowl games during our careers at UCONN including the International bowl in Toronto Canada in 2009, The Papajohn’s bowl in Birmingham Alabama, in 2010 and the Fiesta Bowl in Scottsdale, Arizona in 2011. Our goal is to bring you our day to day activities as we visit all sorts of different geographical, environmental and cultural sites in Australia and around the south pacific. We will also keep you all updated on the state of our Football Program we are joining called the Monash Warriors. And hopefully show you all some new exciting things about a place that is some respects much like the U.S and in others very different.
We will be living in Melbourne Australia which is located in the state of Victoria. That is south eastern Australia for those of you who don’t know. How did we get this gig? Well it all started when Mr. Chapman suggested to Ben to really start looking into playing overseas after graduation in December because it would be an unforgettable experience. We both had former teammates that had played abroad in various countries so Ben found out how they went about it and signed up on the website called www.europlayers.com . After creating a profile Ben started making contact with several teams throughout the world and ending up hearing from a representative from the Monash Warriors in Melbourne Australia. After a while of back and forth both parties seemed to be very interested and Ben found out they were also looking for a guy who could play and coach receivers as well some defense. He immediately thought of Matt and posed the idea to him, and Matt was excited from the moment he heard about it. He talked to his parents and got signed up on the site as well. After that the talks went very quickly and we agreed to come be player coaches for the 2013 season for the Monash Warriors.
Hopefully this gave you a little insight into our journey and how we got here.

Hmm, to be honest I’d rather spend my $50 per month on stuff I really like as opposed to a bag of stuff I may or may not like. It’s a cute idea but I do2#&8n17;t like how restrictive it is.

Hi Pat-Have you updated your FR06&1#8242;s firmware? I know there was an issue with some of the earlier firmware builds where the connection was being funky to the scale, but that was fixed – I believe in the June 2011 update. As for differences with weight – no, definitely not normal. I haven’t seen that on any of the ANT+ scales ever. Very odd. I’d ring up Garmin support first if a firmware update doesn’t cure it.
Great job, guys. Can’t wait to hear about your adventures — on and off the field. Hope to see you Down Under this summer.
Thanks Scooter! We’ll be updating it daily once we hit Aussie Land
